How to bid

Under ‘Current Auctions’, you can find the coins available for bidding. Each lot has a comprehensive description and detailed photographs. If you would like additional photographs, please do not hesitate to ask for them. During the viewing days prior to the auction, you will have the opportunity to view the lots in Antwerp or Sint Pauwels.

You can bid in the following ways BEFORE the auction

  1. Via this website. Select the lots you wish to bid on, and once you have registered, you can submit your bids. If your bid is outbid, you will automatically receive a notification from us. You can also always find the current starting price for that lot here.

  2. Via email. You can send an email to bids@vanacker.eu, stating the lot number and the maximum amount you wish to bid.

  3. By telephone. You can call us before the auction on 00 32 (0) 486 645 305 to provide the lot number and the maximum amount you wish to bid.

  4. Via a telephone bidding request: You can call us before the auction on 00 32 (0) 486 645 305 to let us know the lot numbers you wish to bid on during the auction. Please provide 1 or 2 telephone numbers where we can reach you. We will call you during the auction, a few lots before your lot comes up.

We treat your bids in confidence and will continue to bid online on your behalf for as long as necessary. We will therefore NOT start at your highest bid.

You can bid in the following ways DURING the auction

  1. Live bidding. You must register in advance. We will confirm your account, and you will be ready to bid as soon as you have received this confirmation email. We recommend logging in at least 15 minutes before the auction starts. You can find more information about live bidding here:

  2. By telephone, following a request to bid by telephone: We will call you a few lots before your lot comes up so that you can follow the auction with us. This is a free service, at no extra cost.

You cannot attend in person; we operate entirely online.

Auction fees

In addition to the hammer price, you will pay a commission of 10% on gold coins, or 20% on other coins.

Payment

We prefer payment by bank transfer. You can also pay by credit card via a secure, unique link. If you choose this option, please allow for an additional charge of 3 per cent. Payment via PayPal is not possible. You may also pay in cash for amounts up to 3,000 euros.
